Bandmaster’s Prize Day

Patrick was delighted to be invited as Guest of Honour to the Royal School of Military Music to hand out the prizes to the best musicians in the Army at the Bandmaster’s Prize Day.

Prize Day is the culmination of the Army’s Student Bandmaster Course and the day the successful students receive their prizes in all the disciplines that are tested throughout the course. It is also attended by senior military dignitaries and other eminent civilian musicians.

Significantly, this year was the last Prize Day to be held at Kneller Hall after 162 years as the music school prepares to relocate to Portsmouth and Kneller Hall closes. Over 900 Army bandmasters have been trained at the school since 1857.
