COMPOSER’S NOTE

This piece for strings evokes the tranquility of summer afternoons by a river, inspired by the view from my studio when I lived in Berkshire on the River Thames.  The perpetual motion of the muted middle strings is set against the dialogue of solo violin and cello, the contrast of which highlights the languid movements of the bird.
