Three weeks today (9th Oct), the brilliant Choir of Wells Cathedral, English Chamber Orchestra and soprano Natalie Clifton-Griffith are performing Patrick’s Song of Songs in WellsCathedral.

This exciting six-movement work for strings, choir and soprano is based on the collection of love poetry which forms the Old Testament’s Song of Songs (or Song of Solomon).  For the Christian mystical tradition, the dialogue between the lover and the beloved gave voice to the relationship of the soul to Christ, and Patrick’s settings convey the desire, hope, confusion and joy of this relationship.

The concert also features beautiful works by Mozart, Fauré, Bach and Elgar all performed by these world-class musicians.
